DIA and Casino expand collaboration | Progresiv
Spain-based DIA has announced that it is expanding the scope of its joint venture with France-based Casino. The development will see the establishment of a new company, CD Supply Innovation SL, which will be based in Madrid.
The companies have said the joint venture will be ‘international in scope’ but will exclude Latin America, where both operate. CD Supply Innovation SL will begin operating on 15 December and will be responsible ‘for some management of financial services and logistics, as well as payments and procurement’. The focus will mainly be on the retailers’ private label products.
Finally, the two companies said the joint venture will also ‘ create an innovation laboratory designed to optimize processes with providers and improve efficiency, making it possible to provide a better final product for the consumer’.
DIA and Casino began collaborating in 2016, following the announcement in late 2015 of the creation of the joint venture ICDC Services. Both retailers have been growing the number of buying and collaborative agreements they operate with other companies across Europe as they look to drive lower prices and improve efficiencies.
