UK: Aldi plans 130 new stores in 600 million pounds expansion | Progresiv
Discount supermarket Aldi is reported to be embarking on an ambitious 600 million pounds investment plan in the UK, which it says will create 8000 new jobs in the next two years. 
The German retailer, which currently employs 27,000 people in the UK, says it's aiming to hire 35,000 new staff by 2022, as it lays the foundations for another 25 years of growth. The supermarket chain is also planning new distribution centres to support the growth programme.
Aldi continues to gain traction in the UK amid increasing acceptance by British shoppers. Their sales increased by 17 per cent in the 12-week period through to 19 July, according to Kantar Worldpanel.
Aldi is attracting new customers through investment in the depth and quality of its product range, Jonathan Neale, Aldi’s joint managing director of buying, said last month.
