RUSSIA: Government Wipes Foreign Cleaning Brands Off Local Shelves | Progresiv
The crackdown by Russian authorities on foreign brands and retailers shows no signs of easing up, with the latest move seeing the country’s consumer safety regulator order retailers to withdraw some detergent brands. The brands in question are produced by global groups such as Procter & Gamble, Henkel, Colgate-Palmolive, and Clorox.
The regulator, Rospotrebnadzor, claimed the decision had been taken because the products did not meet the country’s safety standards, and were ‘toxic’. Rospotrebnadzor also said it was carrying out tests on household chemicals and detergents of other producers.
It is not immediately clear whether the decision impacts all product lines by the companies named, or just some products, or select batches.
