ROMANIA: Violeta Luca, appointed in Metro Cash&Carry’s board | Progresiv
Violeta Luca, aged 37, joined the board of directors of Metro Cash & Carry Romania starting from March, thus becoming the sixth member of the CA, along with Roland Ruffing, Camelia Oprea, Matthias Putschrnann, Olivier Sainson and Valentin Pauna.
"Through her experience, expertise and support within Metro, we can focus even more on developing our chain of Traders customers - resellers (independent businesses), and also on the future development of the La Doi Pasi franchise and on sustainable growth. Moreover, with Violeta Luca, we will be even more ambitious in improving our position on the local market, to be the partner of choice for our customers in the cash & carry trade market", said for Progresiv representatives of the Metro Cash & Carry company.
Violeta Luca is one of the most known female executives in Romania, with over 10 years experience in retail, consumer electronics, insurance and IT. She previously held the position of Marketing & Operations Director at Microsoft Romania, a company which she joined in June 2015, initially in the Head of Business position. Before that she was Executive Director Mag and Flanco CEO. The list of companies where she worked also includes Whirlpool Romania.
The company currently owns 25 cash & carry units in Romania, 5 smaller Metro Point units, a platform for online commerce and La Doi Pasi franchise.
Earlier this year, the Germans sold the remaining four Real hypermarkets they still owned in Romania to Terazone Enterprises Limited.
The company ended the financial year 2015-2016 (corresponding period October 1, 2015 - September 30, 2016) with a turnover of 904 million euros, up by 2% compared to the previous fiscal year.
