ROMANIA: Profi expands in the city that other retailers abandoned | Progresiv
Profi, controlled by Polish investment fund Enterprise Investors, continue to invest in expanding its chain of stores with a new opening in Pitesti, a city from which the Belgians from Mega Image and the local retailer Succes have recently left. 
Thus, Profi opened its eighth business unit in Pitesti. The store located on No. 2-4A Negru Voda Street was opened in a former Mega Image location – a supermarket opened in 2013 and closed this summer. The unit has standard format and a sales area of 434 square meters.
Profi also checked its first commercial unit in Bicaz, Neamt county, the 162nd location where the retailer is present today. The store has standard format, a sales area of 335 square meters and is located on No. 2A Barajului Street.
With these openings, Profi reached a chain of 340 stores operated nationwide. Profi covers all counties and is currently the retailer with the most extensive geographical coverage in Romania, being present in 162 cities. According to data from the Ministry of Finance, last year Profi reported a turnover of 1.84 billion lei, occupying the 9th position in the ranking of the 10 largest retailers in Romania based on reported sales.
