ROMANIA: Mol launches a convenience retail concept for its gas stations | Progresiv
Gas stations chain Mol Romania opened, in Blejoi, near Ploiesti, the first gas station in the pilot project of introducing the Fresh Corner concept, through which the operator intends to bring more consumer goods in its stores, as well as coffee, sandwiches, frozen pastry and bakery products baked in-store.
“Mol Group has identified new ways to capitalize its chain of gas stations, defining a new relevant offer for its customers, focusing on coffee, fresh foods and a wide range of shopping for home, placed under a new interior design store”, said Lars Höglund, Senior Vice President of Mol Group, responsible for the Retail segment.
Mol Romania will open four more stations in the pilot project this year, in Bucharest and Sibiu. The company intends to renew part of the distribution network in 2016, according to the results of customer satisfaction research studies.
One of the main product of the Fresh Corner is coffee: an innovative device, with self service and touch screen allows customers who wish to prepare their own coffee to choose from 26 flavors of coffee from freshly ground beans.
Mol Group controls four refineries and two petrochemical units in Hungary, Slovakia and Croatia. The company also has a chain of approximately 2,000 gas stations in Central and South Eastern Europe, in 12 countries, of which about 200 in Romania.
