Romania, the first country where Kaufland launches the loyalty card | Progresiv
German retailer Kaufland has launched Kaufland Card, a loyalty program that rewards loyal customers with discounts, bonus loyalty points, and additional benefits. The launch is an international premiere, Romania being the first market where the retailer has such loyalty program.
The Kaufland Card is available both in physical and digital form, and can be used in all stores in the country. The physical card only offers access to general loyalty promotions, while the digital version offers access to significant discount promotions created exclusively for Kaufland Card users, the ability to collect and use bonus loyalty points to pay for non-food campaign products, but also personalized promotions according to the customer's buying habits - a unique benefit in the market, which will be available later in the year.
The Kaufland digital card is available in the Kaufland mobile app - Offers and News, which can be downloaded free of charge from both the App Store and Google Play, while the physical one is available at the Kaufland Information Office. By integrating the digital card into the Kaufland mobile app, customers can access all available promotions (standard or loyalty), as well as recipes, the shared shopping list and other news. They can also view the number of loyalty bonus points and active non-food promotional campaigns that they can use to buy cheaper at any time.
"We created the digital card to give our customers all the benefits in one place in the easiest way possible. We wanted to simplify the shopping experience by providing another way to interact with offers, modern and dynamic enough to be taken anywhere by customers directly on the phone. We encourage the use of the digital card, because it is a sustainable tool", says Valer Hancas, Corporate Communications and Corporate Affairs Kaufland Romania.
Benefits - loyalty promotions and Non-Food Points - will be awarded to cash registers by scanning the digital or physical card. In stores, loyalty promotions are marked with special labels.
At the moment, international players that also have loyalty cards and Cora, Profi, Penny Market, Carrefour Market and Mega Image, the latter being the only retailer to offer personalized promotions to buyers.
Kaufland is among the largest retail companies in Europe, with over 1,270 stores in 7 countries. In Romania, the retailer owns 121 stores and, according to the latest available financial data, in 2017 reported businesses of 10.08 billion lei.
