ROMANIA: Dalli starts production in the former P&G factory from Timisoara | Progresiv
Procter & Gamble has officially handed over the factory in Timisoara to the German Dalli, so the German manufacturer will start production in the factory owned until last year by the Americans from P&G.
The German group Dalli signed the Agreement for the purchase of the P&G factory in Timisoara in November last year. The agreement stipulated the takeover of the location, including assets for the production of laundry and dish detergents and the transfer of about 200 employees to Dalli group. Under the agreement Dalli will keep manufacturing for P&G powder detergents for three years and dishwashing detergent over the next two years.
P&G is number 1 in Romania both in laundry detergent category and in the dishwashing (with Fairy) after the value of sales. In the last 5-6 years, however, the market has witnessed a particularly important transformarion with the development of a new generation of laundry detergents: liquid and, more recently, in the form of gel capsules. Most likely, this trend was unfavorable for the production business of P&G in Timisoara and weighed more in the Americans’ decision to give up the factory.
Dalli group is a family business now in its 5th generation. The company operates in the segment of home and personal care products and the portfolio includes a wide range of personal and household products. Dalli Group also manufactures for German companies private label products sold in discount stores and drugstores.
