ROMANIA: Auchan takes Carrefour’s place in Liberty Center | Progresiv
Auchan Retail Romania will open a supermarket within the Liberty Center in District 5, in place of the former Carrefour Market. 
At present, the store located on the ground floor of the shopping center is in remodeling process and will have an area of over 3,600 square meters.
Auchan also operates an InExtenso brand store in Liberty Center, opened this spring, being the first location of this type that does not operate in the same space as an Auchan hypermarket and ninth in the chain. In Extenso by Auchan occupies an area of 555 square meters and offers a wide range of clothing products.
In Romania, the Auchan chain currently has 33 hypermarkets, 15 proximity stores and 3 MyAuchan supermarkets. The retailer returned on profit last year, reporting a profit of 74.99 million lei, while in 2016 the registered losses were of 23.9 million lei, according to public data.
