ROMANIA: Auchan invested 2 million euros in expanding the hypermarket in Oradea | Progresiv
French retailer Auchan invested 2 million euros in expanding, remodeling and modernizing the sales area of its hypermarket in Oradea. The investment adds to the 2 million euros already invested in remodeling the Real store intro Auchan 2 years ago. 
The hypermarket area has been increased by 55% reaching 9,600 square meters (from the initial 6,200 square meters). Following the remodeling over 15,000 new items were added to the assortment, thus reaching 55,000 SKUs.
The areas increased are the health products (eco/bio products, gluten-free, dietary), the international products (the assortment now includes 700 products of which 270 are Hungarian) and the category of personal care products (over 2,200 products, including a make-up concept store). A large multimedia area was also created, with over 2,000 products in the consumer electronics universe - a modern, innovative space where customers can get the latest novelties, but also an area for clothing with In Extenso private label products.
The remodeling of the store also meant the expansion of DIY area, sports articles and products for different hobbies, the assortment reaching over 4,500 products.
French retailer Auchan operates in Romania a chain of 33 hypermarkets, with a net sales area of 276 500 square meters. Last year, Auchan Romania reported sales of 4.07 billion lei, with 32 operational stores.
