Rewe finalized the remodeling of Penny Market, a 120 million lei project | Progresiv
Rewe Romania finalized the remodeling of 170 Penny Market stores in Future Store format, following an investment of over 120 million lei. The remodeling process started in March 2015 and ended in November 2018. 
The Future Store concept focuses on a modern and stylish design, reorganizing the product categories to provide more space for fresh food from the categories of fruit and vegetables, meat, bread and pastry, dairy products. In addition, customers also have bulk items available, where new assortments of frozen products, sweets and snacks have been added.
The Future Store format has been applied to every new store opened since 2016, so at present, all 236 Penny Market stores in the country are built under this format.
The entire chain is served by 3 logistics centers located in: Stefanestii de Jos, Turda and Bacau. At present, Rewe Romania owns 236 Penny Market stores nationwide and employs more than 4,300 people. For 2019, the target is to open 20-25 new stores.
In 2017, the German retailer reported local business of 2.99 billion lei, up by 1.04% compared to 2016, respectively a net profit of 19.1 million lei, according to data provided by the Ministry of Finance.
