Retail sales show weakness in July | Progresiv
Retail sales across Europe had a weak month in July, according to the latest figures from Eurostat, with only non-food sales reporting growth. 
For the 19-member euro area, seasonally-adjusted sales were down 0.2% month-on-month, while remaining flat in the 28-member EU bloc. On a year-on-year basis, sales in the euro area rose by 1.1%, while sales in the EU28 were up 2%.
In the euro area, sales of food, drinks & tobacco declined by 0.6% month-on-month, but rose by 1.9% on an annual basis. Meanwhile, sales of non-food products were up 0.4% m-o-m and by 1.8% y-o-y.
In the EU28, sales of food, drinks & tobacco edged down 0.3% m-o-m although they were up 1.8% y-o-y. Meanwhile, non-food sales edged up 0.5% m-o-m, and by 1.9% y-o-y. (www.kamcity.com)
