Olympus Romania exceeded the 100 million euros turnover threshold | Progresiv
Olympus Romania dairy producer has exceeded the 100 million euros turnover threshold last year as a result of new product launches and production investments, Athanasios Giannousis, Commercial Director of Olympus Romania, said for Progresiv.
"In recent years, we have invested heavily in production and portfolio expansion, which has also been reflected in profitability. Thus, the estimates from the beginning of 2018 have been confirmed and we exceeded 100 million euros in turnover. The indicators have been linked to the increase in volume for value-added products, increased living standards, and an integrated communication strategy focused on brand needs. Of course, we want to maintain the upward trend in 2019 as well, all the more so since 2018 was a good year in terms of profitability. Our primary objective is to continue investing in technology to ensure high quality standards for our products", said Athanasios Giannousis.
Last year, the company, which owns a production unit in Halchiu, Brasov County, invested 30 million euros in the opening of new production lines of Stragghisto Greek yoghurt (20 million euros) and the Fresh Cheese range (10 million euro). "Thus, as sales in international markets influence the company's turnover, we also expect that in 2019 we will maintain this upward trend. We will continue this year to innovate by penetrating new product categories with the goal of addressing an integrated communication strategy across all channels", added Olympus Romania's Commercial Director.
At present, 45% of the plant's production is directed to foreign markets, the most important being Germany, Austria, Italy, Great Britain, Sweden or Bulgaria. Spread over an area of 35,000 sqm, the factory in Halchiu, Brasov County, has a total milk collection capacity of 75 tons per hour. Here are made yogurts, fresh and UHT milk, cheese, as well as sour cream.
Olympus Group has been present in Romania since 1999. Between 1999 and 2018, the Olympus Group's total investment in Romania amounted to 130 million euros. The group of companies, owned by a third-generation dairy family, is based in Trikala, Greece, and operates in 43 countries around the world. Currently, Olympus has five production units in three countries (Greece, Romania and Bulgaria), which produce a full range of dairy and natural juices.
