Oliver Eifler left the management of Penny Market Romania | Progresiv
Oliver Eifler, the manager who led Penny Market Romania's operations for five years, along with two other executives, has been named since August to run the business in Italy, said the German manager for Progresiv magazine.
Over the past five years, Oliver Eifler led Penny Market's local operations alongside Dennis Biernatzki (responsible with the purchasing, quality assurance and marketing departments) and Daniel Gross (finance expansion, human resources, IT, legal and logistics). Eifler managed the Penny Market rebranding process under the Future Store concept and also managed the sales department activity.
"At this moment I manage Penny Market operates in Italy, but plans are for me to return to Romania starting next year", said Oliver Eifler.
Oliver Eifler is part of Rewe team, the Penny Market owner, for ten years. Eifler also worked at Penny Market Italia, between 2010 and 2014, in the sales department.
In the last two years (2017 and 2018), German discounter Penny Market has had an investment budget of 200 million euros to expand on the Italian market, where the retailer owned 365 stores at the end of last year.
Rewe opened its first Penny Market store in Romania in 2005. The entire chain is served by 3 logistics centers located in Stefanestii de Jos, Turda and Bacau. At the end of June 2018, Rewe Romania owned 225 Penny Market stores nationwide and employs more than 4,300 people. Local expansion continues in 2018 with 20-25 new stores.
In 2017, the German retailer reported local business of 2.99 billion lei, 1.04% more than in 2016, and a net profit of 19.1 million lei, according to data provided by the Ministry of Finance.
