Migros to produce private labels for Amazon | Progresiv

Swiss retailer Migros’s own production line called M-Industry manufactures Jowa bakery products, Frey chocolate or cosmetics. Now it is also supplying the online giant Amazon. However, not with these labels, but with Amazon's own brands. "We are delivering now, but I do not have to say exactly what," M-Industry chairman Walter Huber said at a press conference in Dietikon. Migros was chosen by Amazon to produce for trade in Europe, Huber continued. In different categories. The production follows recipes that are only available for Amazon's own brands.

Up to now, Migros used Amazon only to market its own products outside Switzerland. Under "Migros Shop", German consumers were able to order typical Migros brands via the platform.

M-Industry is made up of 25 companies in Switzerland and nine companies abroad. It employs around 14,000 people. The company's revenues fell 1.3% last year to 5.8 billion Swiss francs. The reason was the sale of the CCA pickup wholesaler.

Without this sale, the turnover of the "orange giant" production plants would have increased by 2.7%, announced the M-Industry. Once again, Migros' external sector enjoyed positive momentum, recording a new double-digit growth in the Migros industry.

Beyond the border, sales rose 10.9% to 807 million francs. The drivers of growth were again the ranges of cosmetics, coffee capsules, chocolate and cheese, it was said. In addition, the position in the market is strengthened in Asia with the acquisition of the South Korean company Gowoonsesang Cosmetics

In the Swiss market, M-Industry – adjusted for the sale of CCA – increased its sales 1.5% to 5 billion Swiss francs. Migros Group sales rose by only 0.8% to CHF 4.1 billion. Sales to Denner were disproportionate.

The M industry comprises 23 companies in Switzerland and 9 production plants, as well as various trading platforms abroad. Its members include chocolate producer Frey, Migros-Bakery Jowa and cosmetics manufacturer Mibelle Group. (newsbeezer.com)
