ITALY: Coop Italia’s subsidiaries reorganize | Progresiv
Coop Italia’s subsidiaries – Coop Adriatica, Coop Estense and Coop Nordest – will merge to create a consolidated division called Coop Alleanza 3.0 in an attempt to improve efficiencies and profitability, which have fallen behind its competitors.
The merger scheduled to come into shape as of 1 January 2016 will be formally approved in general assembly of delegates to be held on 3rd October 2015.
After the merger, Coop Alleanza 3.0 will be the largest cooperative within Coop Italia consisting of 419 stores mainly in North-East Italy, in the Adriatic region with an estimated turnover of 5 billion euros.
The new entity’s management team will comprise of: Adriano Turini, currently the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Coop Adriatica will act as Coop Alleanza’s President, Paolo Cattabiani, currently President of Coop Nordest, will be in charge of investments, Massimo Ferrari, currently CEO of Coop Estense will be in charge of the supermarket offer.
