CZECH REPUBLIC: Local brewer Budějovický Budvar invests 2.9 million dollars in production site | Progresiv
Czech brewer Budějovický Budvar has invested 70 million Czech koruna (2.88 million dollars) in doubling the production capacity of its facility in České Budějovice – 75 miles south of Prague – after it underwent a programme of comprehensive improvements. Originally designed to produce 40,000 bottles per hour, the site’s output has been increased to about 80,000 bottles per hour. 
The renovation began in January and took place while the plant was still operational. It included upgrades to the existing water, electrical power, sewerage and heating systems; improvements to the acoustic and thermal insulation; and the modernisation of staff facilities such as changing rooms and bathrooms.
“After more than 40 years, the bottling plant deserved an overhaul,” said Budějovický Budvar brewer Adam Brož. He pointed out that, as well as renovating the staff facilities, the brewer has also improved the aesthetic of the building.
Brož continued: “We tried to make the overall result of the construction work not only a showcase of the brewery, but also a decoration for České Budějovice on one of the main access routes into the city. In my opinion, the bottling plant is now one of the most beautiful industrial buildings in our city.” ( www.foodbev.com)
