Catalin Samara, promoted as Operations Director Carrefour Romania | Progresiv
Catalin Dumitru Samara, a manager with over 18 years of experience in retail & FMCG, was promoted earlier this month as Operations Manager Hypermarkets, Supermarkets, Proximity and Supeco within Carrefour Romania. 
In the last year Catalin Samara served as Marketing Officer, Chief Digital Officer, e-commerce, IT services, clients services & omnichannel organization Carrefour Romania. Samara has dedicated its past 18 years to the retail & FMCG industry, building almost his entire career with the French retailer Carrefour.
His professional evolution followed a complex path through phases such as department manager, store manager, electronics and home appliance acquisitions director, operational director and member of the executive committee. At the same time, Catalin Samara holds the Business Administrator role for Bringo, the IT application through which the products of various stores can be ordered and received by customers directly at home, within 90 minutes. Carrefour became Bringo's major shareholder in 2017.
Carrefour owns 320 stores on the local market - hypermarkets, supermarkets and proximity stores, as well as 9 stores under the Supeco banner. The retailer ended last year with cumulated business of 9.60 billion lei, up by 15% over the previous year and a net profit of 125 million lei. In Romania, the Carrefour chain now counts over 321 stores, under the Carrefour, Market, Express and Contact banners.
