Carrefour France and IBM partner on blockchain food tracking network | Progresiv
Carrefour France has partnered with IBM to launch its Blockchain Food Tracking Network following 18 months of testing. The partnership will result in a global standard for food traceability, bringing together several manufacturers and distributors. The blockchain technology will check events related to supply chain, processing, packaging and distribution of goods. The partnership is part of the Act For Food initiative undertaken by Carrefour. According to Carrefour, the system will provide:
Traceability information about product origin and quality;
Information about the nutritional properties of products and the potential presence of any allergens or questionable substances;
Traceability shared across the whole supply chain in the event of a product recall, a health issue or non-compliance with specifications or a particular label. (www.kantarretailiq.com)
