Carrefour expanding online solutions in France | Progresiv

Carrefour France has announced three new online and digital solutions for its home market as it looks to embed its multichannel strategy in the country, win with shoppers and offset challenges at its largest stores. Carrefour expanding online solutions in France

Following on from a successful trial by its operations in Belgium, Carrefour France has said it will be rolling out a meal box solution. The boxes, which are set to be launched in April, will be made available through a new site, PanierCuistot.fr. Shoppers will be able to sign up to the service without taking out a subscription and will then be able to choose from a range of 10 boxes. They will be able to choose from two options: selecting the ingredients for two people, i.e. two main dishes for two different meals, for 20 or 24 euros, or for four people, for 40 or 48 euros.

Fulfilment of the orders will be made through Carrefour’s own Ooshop supply chain, with next day deliveries available on orders made before 13:00. A charge of 2.90 euros will be made for delivery.

Again following a successful trial, this time in Paris, Carrefour has said it will be extending its one hour delivery service to Lyon from May with other major cities to be added by the end of 2017. The service, under the Livraison Express brand, enables shoppers to order from a range of just 3,000 SKUs, i.e. the range available in Carrefour’s city-based proximity stores. It will also be receiving its own dedicated app from April, so that shoppers can track their orders. Shoppers are able to choose a 30 minute delivery slot, which are available between 09:00 and 22:00. Deliveries are made by start-up company Stuart, for a charge of 4.90 euros, which says that it specialises in bicycle deliveries.

Finally, Carrefour has said that it will be relaunching its Pikit home scanner to enable shoppers to make online purchases more easily and efficiently. Pikit, which will cost 29.90 euros, will allow shoppers to add products to their list by scanning barcodes or through voice recognition. The list will then need to be ordered by the shopper, thus removing the chance for incorrect purchasing. For any product that is scanned, but not available at Carrefour, Pikit will suggest an alternative.

Meanwhile, for several products shoppers will also be able to select the frequency with which they want to purchase them. This will see Pikit remind them of the potential need for them to be added to a future shopping list. (www.igd.com)
