Auchan to build a new warehouse with a 45 million euros investment | Progresiv
Belgian company WDP has signed an agreement to develop and lease a 77,000 sq m logistics warehouse space for retailer Auchan, with an investment budget of about 45 million euros.
After a first collaboration in Luxembourg between WDP and the French group Auchan, the Belgian company will develop a new storage facility in the existing WDP location in Bucharest -Stefanestii de Jos. The new buildings, with a surface area of about 77,000 square meters, will consist partly of a temperature controlled area and will be leased by Auchan for a period of seven years. Delivering this new development is scheduled during the first quarter of 2020.
In Romania, the Auchan chain currently includes 33 hypermarkets, 15 proximity stores and 3 MyAuchan supermarkets. The retailer returned to profit last year, reporting a profit of 74.99 million lei, given that in 2016 the registered losses were of 23.9 million lei, according to public data.
