Aldi Belgium introduces new store layout | Progresiv
Since announcing plans to introduce a new store layout in March 2018, Aldi Belgium has transformed 100 stores. A further 60 stores are expected to be remodeled by the end of 2018. The redesign will enhance shopping experience.
The operation is Aldi Belgium’s largest investment to date and will cost 350 million euros. The new store layout is designed around enhancing shopping experience through the use of wider aisles, new furniture and LED lighting. The restructured stores also place a greater focus on fresh produce.
After receiving positive feedback from customers, Aldi plans to continue restructuring its stores. The discounter hopes to modernize all 308 Belgian stores by the end of 2019 with the help of an additional 450 employees.
Commenting on the new store layout, Benjamin Vanagt, Aldi Belgium’s sales director, said, "Together with our employees, we have worked out a plan with which we can make the conversion of a branch, simple and structured".
The investment in Belgium comes as Aldi Nord continues with the rollout of its ‘Aniko’ store design across its operations in Europe. The new store design will help it compete in an ever more challenging Belgian market.
