ROMANIA: The new VAT reduced by 3% Carrefour Romania’s Q2 sales | Progresiv
Carrefour Romania’s sales were affected by the VAT reduction on food and non-alcoholic drinks from 24% to 9%, the negative impact being 3 percentage points. The company, however, reported an organic sales growth in Q2 compared to the same period in 2014. 
"Like for like sales in Romania continued to rise in the second quarter of 2015, although the VAT reduction had a negative impact of three percentage points," the French group's financial report showed, which includes gross sales (with VAT).
In France, the group reported organic growth of 1.1% in Q2 of 2015 in comparable terms, stating that all store formats have been on an upward trend for the second consecutive year.
As expected, convenience stores and other formats (excluding super/hypermarkets) have performed best in terms of sales, reporting an organic growth of 2.5%.
Carrefour Group sales worldwide rose by 2.6% like for like in the second quarter, to 21.4 billion euros.
