ROMANIA: Cosmetic Plant business, +20% in the first half of the year | Progresiv
Cosmetic Plant, one of the leading local cosmetics manufacturers, recorded in the first half of this year a business of 5 million lei, up by 20% compared to the same period last year. Also in the first quarter the company increased its exports by 130% and has made its entry into new markets. 
“Cosmetic Plant’s sales increase by 20% in the first six months of this year, to approximately 5 million lei, compared to the same period of the previous year was influenced by several factors. The increase of brand awareness and customer confidence in the quality of our products has allowed better market penetration and stronger shelf presence by expanding the distribution network”, said Susana Laszlo, General Director of Cosmetic Plant. She added that the first part of the year brought the expansion on the Moldovan market by establishing new partnerships, and the start of deliveries to Auchan hypermarkets chain.
In terms of products delivered, the company representative said that sales increased in terms of volume. Thus, in the first six months of this year were sold around 600,000 products from all ranges, with about 100,000 products more compared to the same period of 2014.
Regarding exports, the first six months of the year brought an advance of 130% of sales abroad, giving the company starting exports to Jordan, Portugal and Moldova.
Regarding Cosmetic Plant’s plans for the year, Susana Laszlo estimated that the company's business will grow by over 10% compared to 2014. This development will be strongly influenced by sales of products for solar care, which represente a significant percentage of the company's business.
Cosmetic Plant is one of the best known cosmetics manufacturers in Romania. A family business founded in 1991 in Cluj-Napoca, the company recorded in 2014 a turnover of 7.5 million lei. Currently Cosmetic Plant’s portfolio includes 100 products, divided into 13 product ranges, grouped according to the principal active ingredient (argan, Q10, green tea, buckthorn, marigold etc.) or use of the product (sunscreen, hair care etc).
