ROMANIA: Bergenbier’s bussiness, slightly on the rise in 2015 | Progresiv
Beer maker Bergenbier, part of Molson Coors group, estimates a slight increase in sales this year, according to company representatives. 
“The beer market will see a slight increase this year, of up to 5% and Bergenbier follows the market trends. We are optimistic regarding the market developments next year since from January 1st the new Fiscal Code will enter into force and hence the new provisions on reducing the excise duty on beer by 15% and, in addition, as of July the VAT on draft beer dropped to 9%”, said Bergenbier officials, the company being the third largest player in the Romanian beer market.
The company reported last year a turnover of 571 million lei and a net loss of 104 million lei.
Located in the western part of Ploiesti, the only Bergenbier factory in Romania has an annual production capacity of 3.5 million hectoliters of beer, daily being produced and bottled 4 million 0.5-liter bottles of beer.
The factory covers an area of 11 hectares (including the warehouse) and has a total of seven bottling lines: two glass lines, two of PET, two for cans and a line for barrels.
Bergenbier makes six brands of beer in the Ploiesti factory - Bergenbier (with its specialties - Bergenbier without alcohol, Bergenbier Fresh Grapefruit, Bergenbier Fresh Lemon, Bergenbier Fresh Grapefruit without alcohol, Bergenbier Fresh Elderflower), Noroc, Staropramen, Beck's (Beck's Green Lemon ), Stella Artois, Stella Artois without alcohol and Lowenbrau. In addition, Bergenbier’s portfolio also includes Leffe and Corona brands, which the company imports.
