Auchan to launch its proximity format MyAuchan in Romania | Progresiv
The French company Auchan has just launched its proximity format MyAuchan on the Romanian retail, in partnership with the largest gas stations chain on the market, Petrom – owned by OMV Group. The move is part of Auchan's ambition to be a multiformat retail company.
MyAuchan store is located in Petrom gas station in Militari, in the western part of Bucharest, very close to the highway which links the Romanian Capital to Pitesti city.
It has 230 sq meters selling area and approximately 4300 articles (SKU-s), such as fresh fruits and vegetables, meat, bakery and fresh bread, petfood and some non-food products. The prices are in line with Auchan pricing policy, thus focusing on discount.
The new store has a non-stop program.
Auchan intends to open a total of 15 proximity stores in Petrom stations in Bucharest and other locations in the country under MyAuchan banner, by the end of this year.
On the more developed markets in Europe, Auchan is already operating, for several years, supermarkets and proximity stores. The most developed chains are Simply Market and A2Pas, both originally launched in France.
In Romania, Auchan chain counts 33 hypermarkets with a sales area totaling 280,000 square meters. According to the latest financial data, Auchan reported a turnover of 1,2 billion euro in 2016.
OMV Petrom is the largest integrated oil and gas group in Southeast Europe. On the distribution market of oil products, it is present on Romanian market and neighboring countries through 783 stations at the end of 2016, under two brands, OMV and Petrom.
