Who is Metro Cash & Carry Romania’s new CEO | Progresiv
Starting July 11th 2016, Roland Ruffing took over the position of Chief Executive Officer of Metro Cash & Carry Romania. He replaces Gilles Roudy, whose term ended in early June this year.

Clearly, we will continue the good cooperation with our business partners, remaining at the same time, a company responsible for the local community", said Roland Ruffing.
Roland Ruffing began his career at Metro in 2004, when he joined Makro Cash & Carry Poland, as Financial Director. In February 2009 Ruffing took the same position in the Czech Makro / MCC Slovakia and a year later was named CEO of Metro Cash & Carry Hungary. In 2013 he was promoted Chief Financial Officer Metro and in August 2015 he became Member of the Operating Board Metro Cash & Carry.
Last year, Metro Romania reported profit and stabilized its sales, posting a slight increase in turnover, from 4,488 million lei in 2014 to 4,494 million lei in 2015 - according to data submitted to the Ministry of Finance.
In Romania, Metro currently operates 31 cash & carry units and develops a franchise chain of convenience stores – La Doi Pasi. With annual sales of one billion euros, the retailer is the fourth player in fast moving consumer goods trade.
