Villa Vinèa, sales of over 3 million lei in 2019 | Progresiv

Wine producer Villa Vinèa, from Mures county, ended 2019 with a turnover of over 3 million lei, about 23% more compared to the previous year. The net growth of 600,000 lei is the largest reported by the winery in the last five years. By the end of the year, Villa Vinèa expects an increase of approximately 20-25% in turnover, bringing it closer to the 1,000,000 Euro threshold, which the company aims to reach in 2021. The financial results are due to the development of the relationship with the local distributors and customers, which generated an increase of 34% compared to 2018, and the areas leading in terms of sales are Mures and Bucharest, where, in fact, the winery is well represented for several years. It is also worth mentioning that a significant increase of 44% was reported by the range of premium products.

From the perspective of sales segmentation, HoReCa generated 50%, while the retail segment represents 25%, and its own stores have a share of 20%. The most spectacular percentage increase, however, was oenological tourism, where revenues were 75% higher, and the number of visitors tripled compared to 2018, reaching about 1,500.

“2019 was good, financially. Villa Vinèa is a local business, in the development phase, so a large part of our revenues are directed towards investments in technology and equipment, supporting the development of human resources and brand communication. Our priority for 2020 is to increase the efficiency of the winery and the quality of the wines, keeping the production at similar levels. Of course, we remain faithful to our commitment to become the leader of the category of white, aromatic wines, in Romania”, says Mircea Matei, General Director Villa Vinèa.

For 2020, the producer will focus on the local market, where it intends to strengthen distribution areas, HoReCa channels and presence in specialized stores, as well as expanding into new counties, such as Iasi, Suceava, Valcea, Dolj.

“An important goal for this year will be to develop the Selection range, which is highly appreciated by our consumers, increasing its quality level even more, as well as the sparkling Cuvée Celest, which we want to become an undisputed leader in its category. Therefore, we invest in both agricultural technology, meant to help us in the activities of the vineyard as well as in the winemaking”, says Dénes Mihály, the local oenologist and the production manager of Villa Vinèa.

The Villa Vinèa winery was founded in 2004, in the Tarnavelor Valley, by Heiner Obberauch, the owner of Salewa Group, which includes brands such as Oberalp, Salewa Sport, Pomoca, Wild Country etc. With an area of ​​70 hectares, the company currently produces 20 wines, grouped in 3 ranges: Premium, Selection and V2. Villa Vinèa's annual production is approximately 250,000 liters. Of this volume, 60% are white wines, still, 3%, but with a strong upward trend are the sparkling ones, the roses reach up to 7% of the total production, and the rest, about 30%, are red wines.
