Vascar: 15% business growth in the first 9 months and invesments of one million euros | Progresiv
Vascar, one of the main local producers of meat and canned products, reported in the first nine months of the year a growth of 15% of the businesses and invested one million euros in technological lines, modernization of the factory and infrastructure.
In volume, the semi-prepared segment marked an increase of 35%, the canned category advanced by 22%, and the cold cuts category by 2.5%.
"The stability of the raw materials market at the beginning of the year has allowed us to reach our goals set for that period. Since June, the global expansion of African swine fever, and especially the crisis in China, have put great pressure on the price of pork, a basic raw material in the industry in which we operate. Chain price increases followed which led to shelf price increases of up to 25% compared to 2018. In this context, consumption registered a contraction, consumers being very cautious regarding the purchase of meat products . Even in these difficult conditions we continued to develop the business, relying on a horizontal expansion and laid the basis for growth for next year”, says Vlad Ciuburciu, General Director Vascar.
The company recently launched new products with the “Choose natural, no Es” label - Azuga fillet, browned bacon, pork pate, chicken pate, canned foods - from 100% natural ingredients, without ES, without preservatives and additives .
In 2018, Vascar reported a turnover of approximately 18 million euros, up by 15% on the previous year.
