UK: Tesco to close standalone clothing website | Progresiv
Tesco has announced that it will close its 'clothingattesco' website and make Tesco Direct the online access point for its F+F clothing offer. The move will take place in June.
Tesco says the change will make F+F easier to shop by allowing customers to use a single Tesco log in to shop across all aspects of Tesco's non-food offer in a single order. The F+F offer will now be presented alongside Tesco's full online non-food range.
Tesco's decision to bring clothing under the Tesco Direct portal follows online simplification work at Asda which now hosts George on the Asda Direct site. However retailers with less extensive non-food offers have often opted to use a single platform for their general merchandise and grocery offers. Sainsbury's for instance launched adedicated site for Tu last August to broaden access to its clothing offer, a move that has helped grow the brand with the majority of Tu online customers choosing to collect orders from more than 700 in-store collection points. Morrisons currently sells schoolwear online as a category alongside groceries (but not its full 6,000 SKU Nutmeg offer). (www.igd.com)
