TURKEY: Carrefour strengthens with a new acquisition | Progresiv
CarrefourSA is to acquire 85% of the shares in Turkish supermarket chain Kiler, subject to regulatory approval. The remainder of the shares are retained in public hands. This is CarrefourSA's third acquisition in 2015, following the smaller acquisitions of 1e1's 29 stores in March and Ismar's 26 stores in February. CarrefourSA general manager Mehmet Nane said the retailer would be making further acquisitions this year as it seeks continued growth in Turkey.
In other news, CarrefourSA has partnered with PayPal to provide an alternative payment system for its online grocery operation. In a promotion surrounding the launch, every purchase of 100 Turkish Lira (33.84 euros) earns cashback of 25 Turkish Lira (8.46 euros). (www.retailanalysis.igd.com)
