Tesco Poland to downsize hypers to new compact format | Progresiv
From August, Tesco’s Poland operation will begin a process that will see its largest big-box stores transformed to a compact hypermarket format. The details were communicated to employees and stated that ranges and assortments will be reduced, making the offer simpler and easier to manage.
According to Matt Simister, president of Tesco Central Europe, "Our decision to focus on smaller formats reflects changing expectations of Polish customers and trends on the retail market. Our compact hypermarkets and supermarkets will continue to offer a wide range of food products, along with the F&F clothing brand and seasonal industrial products."
In addition to the operational changes, Tesco also confirmed it is finalising the sales of eight large hypermarkets as it looks to further slim down its estate in the market. (www.kantarretailiq.com)
