Study: What beverages Romanians prefer | Progresiv
One in three Romanians prefers beer produced in industrial units, but there is more and more interest in craft beer.
The second beverage sought by Romanians is wine (about 20%), with cider being next, according to a study by Reveal Marketing Research. The spirits do not seem to be in the taste of Romanians, only 3-7% of the population declaring that they prefer them. One in four Romanians said that they do not consume alcoholic beverages.
40% of Romanian men consume beer at least once a week, either at home or on outings with friends or colleagues.
On the other hand, one in ten Romanians consume wine about once a week, with young people and women being more active in this regard. Wine consumption is most often associated with holidays (58%), birthdays (35.2%), tastings (24.3%) and socializing in the city (17.7%).
Regarding purchase, over 60% of Romanians in the urban area buy drinks from the trade, while 19% say they come from their own production. Over one third of the respondents (34%) drink very rarely or not at all, a behavior that is more common in women (40.7% of participants). It should be noted that 44.6% of young people under the age of 25 rarely drink less than once a week.
For more than 44% of the respondents, the price remains the main criteria when choosing an alcoholic product. The budget allocated for alcoholic beverages is around 15 lei per week.
The Reveal Marketing Research study was conducted at the end of 2019, on a representative sample of 1002 persons, 523 women and 479 men, interviewed online (CAWI).
