Spar Group to build 400 stores in 5 years in Poland | Progresiv
Spar Group plans to build a chain of 400 stores over 5 years in Poland. The basis for building the Spar chain in Poland will be the Piotr i Paweł group, whose stores will be rebranded under the Spar banner.
The chain will also develop on the basis of new contracts with independent retailers. “The advantage of Spar Group is international experience, excellent logistics of deliveries as well as voluntary and flexible cooperation with partners”, says Tomasz Syller, managing director, member of the board of Your Sklep Spar.
On November 29, the first Eurospar supermarket in Warsaw opened in the Blue City shopping center, on a former Piotr and Paweł location. The store has undergone a thorough metamorphosis, adapting to international standards in the retail industry. Not only the decor or arrangement of shelves has changed, but also the space surrounding the customers.
On the area of about 2.5 thousand sqm Eurospar offers a wide selection of fresh products from proven Polish suppliers, as well as its own brand - fresh products from around the world.
“Spar Group is strongly involved in the Polish retail market. The possibilities of cooperation with a large number of Polish retailers - who are often looking for a large, reliable and stable partner - are important for us”, said Tomasz Syller.
The commercial chain reports that in October the company finalized the agreement on the transfer of ownership of the shares of the Piotr i Paweł Group companies. Thus, the investment plans were implemented and the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection decision regarding chain concentration was also favorable. The Piotr and Paweł stores will systematically change the logo to Spar, informs the company.
Spar Group - as an investor - supports the Piotr i Paweł Group in repayment of liabilities, contractual negotiations and development. Contracts with nearly 300 suppliers have already been signed or renewed. As planned, more than 6,500 products from almost 500 suppliers are already available in the logistics system, and by the end of the year the number of products will increase to 7,500.
