Sklavenitis reportedly intending to integrate Carrefour Cyprus | Progresiv
According to Cypriot local media, Sklavenitis aims to take over Marinopoulos’s Cypriot subsidiary Carrefour Cyprus. Sklavenitis is undertaking a due diligence in Cyprus with the help of PwC (Price Waterhouse Coppers) Greece. Carrefour Cyprus has been relatively isolated from the issues its mother company faced in Greece and the Balkans, displaying a sustainable performance in the recent period.
With Marinopoulos having filed for creditors protection in Greece, the Cypriot division risks having part of its financial and supply chain ties severed which could in turn lead to cash and stock issues. Given Carrefour Cyprus’ leading positions in the market and the challenges Sklavenitis shares with its competitors in Greece, a possible merger could prove beneficial for both companies.
