Schwarz Group picks up stake in AI research group | Progresiv
The Schwarz Group has announced that it is increasing its existing ties with the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI), by picking up a stake in the same. The move makes the discount giant the first retailer to become a shareholder of DFKI.
The company said it will work with DFKI to develop applications for new AI-based technologies in the retail sector. It added that the closer partnership will help “relevant research knowledge” convert faster into “innovations that improve operational processes and support the stationary retail business.”
Schwarz Group and DFKI have previously worked on successful joint projects, such as in the field of speech assistance systems and robotics. DFKI has been conducting research in the field of AI for over 30 years. Its other shareholders include companies such as Microsoft, SAP, and BMW. (www.kamcity.com)
