ROMANIA: Two-digit growth for Carrefour's turnover in 2015 | Progresiv
Carrefour Romania reported for 2015 a net turnover of 1.215 billion euros, up by 13% over the previous year when the French retailer’s revenues reached 1.069 billion euros. 
Also in the third quarter Carrefour announced a strong increase in sales in comparable terms, the advance being sustained by the positive impact of VAT reduction from June 1 on the volumes sold.
Also regarding Romania, in the financial report of the company it is mentioned the takeover of Billa supermarket chain (86 units) from Rewe Group. The transaction value is estimated at 96-97 million euros. If the transaction receives the approval of the Competition Council, Carrefour will strengthen its position in the supermarket segment, reaching a nationwide chain of 193 business units (n.r. Carrefour currently has 107 supermarkets locally).
Carrefour group operates over 10,100 stores in 34 countries worldwide. In Romania, Carrefour chain includes 190 stores - 29 Carrefour hypermarkets, 107 Market supermarkets, 43 Express convenience stores, 10 Contact convenience stores and an e-commerce website.
