Romania, in the top of the best performing countries for Carrefour in H1 | Progresiv
The French retailer Carrefour continues its advance on the local market, reporting in the first six months of this year an advance of 7.6% compared to the same period of 2018, up to 1.05 billion euros. In like-for-like terms (excluding new store openings), the retailer increased its business by 3.6%, which is the second most important growth rate at European level, after Poland. 
Thus, in France, the most important market at European level, the retailer reported a turnover of 18.75 billion euros, up by 0.8% in like-for-like terms, the best dynamic having the convenience segment (+ 2.7%). Regarding the company's performance in the European region, excluding France, Carrefour reported revenues of 11.08 billion euros, the only positive markets being Romania and Poland. Thus, the French retailer's business reported a like-for-like advance of 4.4%, up to 1.02 billion euros. In Spain, Italy and Belgium, Carrefour's business was on a downward trend, with the largest decrease being reported on the Belgian market (-3%).
At group level, Carrefour reported revenues of 38.79 billion euros in the first six months of the year, increasing by 3.7% and 3.5%, respectively, in like-for-like terms. The largest increases were reported in the Latin America region, Argentina being by far the best performing country (+ 49.9%).
At the end of the first semester Carrefour was operating 11,969 stores, of which 362 locations on the local market.
