ROMANIA: Selgros to resume expansion after a four years break | Progresiv
Selgros Cash & Carry Romania acquired a land located in downtown Targu Mures, where it will open a new store in early summer. In Targu Mures there is already another store of the cash & carry operator, located at the exit towards Sangeorgiu de Mures. The announcement comes four years after the last inauguration, when the Swiss operator opened a store in Constanta.
With the opening of the new store, Selgros will introduce a new format, on a sales area of 4,000 sqm. The assortment of foods will be the same with which Selgros’ customers are accustomed, while the non-food items will be carefully selected.
"In the year that we celebrate 15 years of market presence, we resume the expansion with a new Selgros store model. The revival of sales growth in our chain on all categories and especially the gastro segment confirms that we are competitive and a benchmark for quality, assortments, price and customer service", said Alexandru Vlad, CEO Selgros Cash & Carry Romania
Selgros Cash & Carry Romania began operating on the local market in 2001 and currently has 19 stores in Bucharest, Brasov, Iasi, Targu Mures, Oradea, Cluj, Ploiesti, Timisoara, Craiova, Bacau, Galati, Braila, Arad, Suceava and Constanta. Last year the company reported a turnover of 2.3 billion lei, down by 8% from the previous year.
