ROMANIA: Sales of food, beverages and tobacco rose by 29% in November | Progresiv
Trade of food, beverages and tobacco rose in November last year by 29% according to the number of working days and seasonality, and by 27.2% according to gross sales compared to the same month of 2014, announced the Ntional Institute of Statistics (INS). This is the largest monthly increase in 2015 compared to the results in the same month of the previous year. 
Sales of food, beverages and tobacco experienced significant growth over the past year because of the actions taken by the fiscal control bodies, as well as the VAT reduction in foods.
Compared to October 2015, sales of food, beverages and tobacco decreased by 0.1% as gross series, but increased by 1.4% depending on the number of working days and seasonality.
In the first 11 months of 2015, sales of food, beverages and tobacco increased by 18.4% as gross series and 17.7% depending on seasonality compared to the period between January and November 2014.
Overall, retail trade, excluding motor vehicle sales, increased in October compared with the same month of the previous year, with 15.0% as gross series and with 13% as adjusted series. In the first ten months of 2015, retail trade increased by 8.2% as gross sales and by 7.6% according to seasonality and working days.
