ROMANIA: SABMiller revenues, up by 25% in Q3 in Romania | Progresiv
SABMiller’s revenue in Romania rose by 25% in October-December at identical exchange rates, while volumes of beverages sold on the local market recorded an advance of 20%, said the company in a statement.
The result was supported by favorable weather during the period, but also by improving revenue per hectoliter of beer – an increase based on the success of the promotional campaign for Ursus brand.
In Europe, the company recorded a growth in revenue of 6% in the third quarter, while drinks volumes grew by 4%, the advance being supported by the company's evolution in Romania, Great Britain, Czech Republic and Slovakia.
SABMiller is present in Romania through Ursus Breweries, the largest player on the Romanian market based on turnover, of 1.4 billion lei (320 million euros) in 2014. The company owns three breweries locally - Brasov, Buzau and Timisoara and a small capacity production line in Cluj.
The group, with South African and American ownership, has around 69,000 employees in more than 80 countries. In the financial year ended on 31 March 2015, the company reported revenues of over 26 billion dollars. SABMiller group has accepted, in October last year, the 108 billion dollars offer from Anheuser-Busch InBev submitted for a takeover. The transaction that will create a giant within the global brewing industry needs the approval of the competition authorities in the markets on which both companies are present, as well as from the European Commission.
