ROMANIA: The new Auchan Brasov, target of over 10,000 receipts in the first days | Progresiv

The Romanian Auchan hypermarket chain opened its second store in Brasov, in Coresi Shopping Resort. The commercial center was developed by Immochan Romania – the real estate arm of the French retail group - and involved a total investment of 60 million euros. The new Auchan store has a sales area of 13,800 sqm, 58 cash registers, 350 employees and is the chain’s largest hypermarket outside Bucharest. The plans for the new unit are ambitious: Auchan representatives estimate an average number of 8,000-10,000 daily cash receipts in the hypermarket from Coresi Shopping Resort.

"In the first days after the opening we expect to have over 10,000 daily cash receipts, then the average number will likely reach a level of 8,000-10,000/day," said Frederic Bellon, General Director of Auchan Romania. On the other hand, Tatian Diaconu, General Director of Immochan Romania, said that the average estimated traffic in the entire shopping center is of 20,000 people/day, representing an annual traffic of about 8 million people.

Auchan reached investments worth 85 million euros in Brasov

This is the second store operated by Auchan in Brasov, the first being located on Cristianului Road, near Eliana Mall, which was taken from the Real hypermarket chain. After rebranding the chain acquired, the store on Cristianului Road was reopened under the brand Auchan City – the smaller hypermarket format operated by the French retailer. "We have reached total investments of 85 million euros in Brasov," said Frederic Bellon.

With the opening of Auchan Coresi, the French hypermarket chain reached a total of 33 units in Romania. Last year, Auchan Romania has exceeded sales of one billion euros, with 32 operational stores.

-         3,000 private or exclusive Auchan labels; 800 of them are manufactured locally

-         1,200 ethnic and international products

-         200 fresh fruits and vegetables in “Auchan Market” section

-         500 products sold as bulk, in frozen foods, sweets, tea and coffee categories

-         a shop-in-shop with clothing, accessories and jewels, ModaInExtenso (Auchan private label), listing a total of 4,000 SKUs

-         an extended Electro’Auchan section, with 3,800 articles: TV, multimedia, connectivity, domotics, IT
