ROMANIA: Modern retail openings in November | Progresiv
International retail chains continued their openings in Romania in November as well, which is the month when retailers have marked the most openings this year, 35.
Recently acquired by investment fund Mid Europa Partners from Enterprise Investors, Profi chain was the champion of store openings in November as well, opening 20 units. Of these, 13 operate in Loco format, 4 under the Standard banner and 3 under the City banner.
Mega Image, part of Delhaize Ahold group, also accelerated its investment in expanding the chain of stores and marked 8 openings in November, at the end of the month reaching a total of 507 locations.
Rewe Romania continued its expansion plan and opened in November 5 new Penny Market stores in four counties in Romania. With these openings, the chain reached 185 stores.
The Germans from Lidl continued to invest in expanding the local chain and opened the first store in Aviatiei area of Bucharest, the 25th in Bucharest. According to representatives of the retailer, the store opened in November in Bucharest is the greenest of Lidl Romania, being built from recycled materials. Lidl ended November with a total of 202 stores.
Carrefour opened in November its second supermarket in Lugoj, Timis county, reaching a total of 112 stores in this format.
