ROMANIA: Macromex and La Lorraine intend to bring 20 milllion euros in the bakery plant in Cluj | Progresiv
La Lorraine Romania, the joint-venture between Macromex and La Lorraine Bakery Group - the Belgian producer of bakery and confectionery - plan to invest 20 million euro until 2020 in their plant from Campia Turzii (Cluj county) . This is the last stage of the development of production capacity.
"We started this factory five years ago with one production line. Now we inaugurate the third one and by 2020 the target is to reach five production lines. The project involves the opening of two production lines in the next four years, one of pastries -which will be put into operation by the end of 2017- and a line of craft products” said Dan Minulescu (photo), Macromex owner and one of the La Lorraine Romania shareholders, at an event organized by company owned factory in Campia Turzii (Cluj county). The inauguration will mark the debut of pastry confectionery production in this factory and act as a growth opportunity for the company.
"By the end of 2017 we want to produce in this plant a croissant to rival those produced in France and because La Lorraine Romania is a Romanian company by essence, our portfolio will include patty with cheese (Merdenea). The patisserie will be an important segment because we have already confectionery market that we have developed products that currently come from the Czech Republic. We will move much of its production to Romania and then expect good results”, said Dan Minulescu.
