ROMANIA: Lidl to invest 5 million euros in the development of store managers | Progresiv
Lidl Romania started the national project "Future Store Manager", the campaign’s goal being to perfect each of the 185 store managers of the units across the country and enable them to improve their managerial and leadership skills. The project was launched through an event held in Poiana Brasov, where over 300 employees were invited.
The development focusis based on five categories of competences defined for the new Store Manager profile: professional, entrepreneurial, personal, leadership and social.
"The performance criteria on which Lidl relies in its activity have become more numerous in recent years: higher expectations from customers, product assortments increasingly diversified, complex daily transactions conducted at an ever faster pace. All these put the employees teams from our stores in front of rapidly changing challenges. Thus, the management requirements of each Lidl store increase and store managers together with the employees have a key role in this process”, said Frank Wagner, National Sales Director, Member of the Board of Lidl Romania.
With this initiative, Lidl aims to perfect each of the 185 store managers across the country, as well as all store managers of future units. The company also works to broadening this development tool for other staff categories in the stores organization chart.
Lidl, part of Schwarz group, is one of the largest retail chains in Europe and operates in over 20 European countries. In Romania, the retailer operates nationwide a chain of 185 commercial units with annual sales estimated at about 1 billion euros.
