ROMANIA: Lidl to invest 20 million euros in its fourth local logistic center | Progresiv
Lidl will invest 20 million euros in a logistics center in Lugoj, the fourth which the retailer will operate in Romania and that will manage the transport to the German retailer’s stores in the south-west of the country.
The new regional warehouse will be located on Timisoarei Street in Lugoj, having a total built area of over 45,000 m2 and a land area of 140,000 m2 and will be built in collaboration with Romanian construction company Bog'Art, metting ecological and sustainability standards.
An important factor in the choice of location was the proximity to the A1 and A6 highway, the logistics being one of the important elements in the development strategy of Lidl.
"The rapid pace of expansion of the company and the need to supply the south-west area of Romania imposed developing this project for which we chose the services of a Romanian company with expertise in construction of such a scale. We want to build a sustainable building in which to implement the latest and advanced technologies", said Sergiu Fala, National Director of Expansion and Central Services, Member of the Lidl Romania Board.
In the process of execution will be implemented modern technologies and solutions aimed at achieving a sustainable building by reducing energy consumption, emissions, carbon dioxide footprint and therefore the impact on the environment.
Once completed, this center will generate about 100 new jobs.
"Lidl will continue investments in Romania in parallel with the creation of jobs nationwide. Currently, we have over 4,200 employees in the chain of stores, distribution centers and regional headquarters", said Frank Wagner, Chairman of the Board Lidl Romania.
