ROMANIA: Food, beverages and tobacco sales rose by 25% in October | Progresiv
Trade of food, beverages and tobacco rose in October by 23.8% depending on gross sales and by 25.1% according to the number of working days and seasonality compared to the same month of last year, announced the National Institute of Statistics (INS). 
Following the actions taken by the control bodies in the field of taxation as well as the reduction of VAT on food, sales of food, beverages and tobacco experienced significant growth this year, the peak being reached in September, when the increase was over 27% compared to the same month of last year, according to INS.
Compared to September of this year, sales of food, beverages and tobacco decreased by 0.3% as gross series, but increased by 0.4% depending on the number of working days and seasonality.
In the first ten months, sales of food, beverages and tobacco increased by 17.1% as gross series and by 16.3% depending on seasonality compared to the period January-October 2014.
Overall, retail trade, except for sales of motor vehicles, increased by 11.1% in October compared with the same month of last year, both as gross series and as adjusted series. In the first ten months, retail trade increased by 7.4% depending on gross sales and by 6.9% according to seasonality and number of working days.
