ROMANIA: Food and beverages sales increased by 27% in September | Progresiv

Gross sales of food, beverages and tobacco increased by 27.6% in September, while the seasonally adjusted sales reported an advance of 27.3% compared to the same month of last year. It is the largest monthly increase of this year compared to results in the same month of the previous year.

Compared to August, sales of food and beverages reported a decline of 5.1% as gross series and an advance of 1.2% based on seasonality, announced the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

In the first nine months of 2015 the turnover volume in retail trade of food, beverages and tobacco increased by 16.3% as gross series and by 15.4% according to seasonality and working days compared to the same period last year.

Overall, the turnover of retail trade (except for trade of motor vehicles and motorcycles) reported an increase of 6.9% as gross series, respectively, of 6.4% based on the number of working days and seasonality in the first nine months of 2015 compared with the same period last year, according to the INS.
