ROMANIA: Exports to Italy rose by about 10% in 2014 | Progresiv
Commercial trade between Romania and Italy reached a total value of 12.58 billion euros in 2014, up by 6.9% over the previous year, said reprezenzantatives of the Italian Agency for Foreign Trade (ICE), citing INS data. Grains, fruits, vegetables and meat are the most important product categories which go to the Peninsula. 
In 2014, Romania exported to Italy goods worth 6.24 billion euros (+ 9.1% over 2013), while imports amounted to 6.33 billion euros (+ 4.3% vs. 2013). Thus, Romania's balance in terms of trade with Italy remains negative, at 94 million euros.
Analyzing commercial trade from 2005 to 2014, there is a progressive increase in values that slowed in 2008, with the economic crisis, and which was reduced drastically in 2009. In subsequent years, exchanges have started to rise again, reaching in 2012 and 2013 almost the same level as in 2008 and in 2014 they exceeded the historical peak of 2011, according to Luca Gentile, Director of the ICE Office in Bucharest.
