ROMANIA: Doncafé producer, 27% rise in the first nine months | Progresiv
Strauss Romania Coffee manufacturer, controlled by the Israeli group Strauss, reported in the first nine months of 2015 sales of 191.5 million lei (196 million shekels), 27.3% higher compared to the same period of last year. The result was sustained mainly by the performance of Amigo brand. In the third quarter, sales reported an advance of 28%, to 70.3 million lei (72 million shekels). 
"The sales growth reflects, among other things, the sales of Amigo brand, whose acquisition was completed in September 2014. Excluding Amigo, the company's sales rose by 9.5% in the first nine months and by 5.5% in the third quarter, compared to the similar periods of last year", according to the company's financial report.
Strauss completed in September 2014 the acquisition of instant coffee brand Amigo from Brazilian company Cia Iguacu de Café Soluvel for 20 million dollars. Still, the main brand of the company remains Doncafé.
Overall, the group reported sales of about 2.55 billion shekel (2.49 billion lei) in the first nine months of the year, higher by 8.4% over the same period of last year. The value in lei of the financial indicators were calculated at an exchange rate of 1 shekel = 0.977 lei. Israeli group Strauss Coffee is present in Romania since 1994 and owns a production unit in Bucharest.
